Limiting beliefs are those negative thoughts inside your head saying you can’t do something. They are the reason you haven’t achieved your goals. I have found through my coaching practice that it is lack of mindset, rather than lack of the correct methods, which most stifle people from living their dreams.
Limiting beliefs tell you that you’re not good enough, pretty enough, smart enough, motivated enough or rich enough. Whatever you want to call it - the doubt, the ego, the fear, the inner critic or justifier –this is what stops you from taking action.
Here are 6 steps to bust through limiting beliefs and achieve your goals:
Limiting beliefs have the ability to stop you from achieving your goal from the day you create it because they tell you a negative story over and over. What unproductive story are you telling yourself that is stopping you from achieving your goals? Perhaps, you are telling yourself that you don’t have the time, money or motivation. These limiting beliefs have the ability to stop you even when you have a great desire for achievement. Awareness is the first step in removing the power from your limiting beliefs. Bonus points if you write down the limiting beliefs that are stopping you from taking action on your next goal.
Feel the limiting belief
The next step is to feel your limiting beliefs. How do they feel within your body? Do you feel tight, constricted, stuck or heavy? Recognise the feelings and let yourself know that you don’t have to hold on to those thoughts. It would be insanity to continue holding those limiting beliefs knowing the discomfort it is causing your body.
Switching your thinking
Now, think of some positive alternatives to your limiting beliefs.
I love and accept myself unconditionally.
I am exactly where I need to be right now.
Everything happens for a reason. Setbacks are opportunities for growth.
I am a powerful and capable human being.

Know your why
The next step is to get clear on why you have chosen your goal in the first place. How will your life change once you achieve this goal? How will it make you feel? Connect with the way it makes you feel because the feeling within you is the most powerful motivator.
